I have been making raku slabs since the early 1980s. In the Spring day I was driving by a herd of Black Angus on Spring green pastures. I instantly responded RAKU! I had a class in the Pryor Mountains (Horse Whisperer) and we were surrounded by a herd of wild horses that appeared out of a cloud. It was magic! I make horses too. Now I am seeing lots of exotic Birds.
here are some results from my Alternative Firing workshop at La Meridiana. I covered making quick terra sig, crackled surfaces using sodium silicate, preparing foil sagger with metallic salts, preparing ceramic sagger with sawdust, wire, banana skins, etc.
