Gallery/co-Op Protocol

11 December 2016 - 10:52 AM

I have my work in a small gallery 40 miles south of me.  I work 2 days a month.  It's rather fun, getting to know new people, and even though sales can be slow, it has brought me some new interest from other customers.   The manager is working on getting a website up and working and said she would put a link to everyone's business website on the Gallery website.  I asked her if that meant we would have to pay commission to the gallery if someone went through the gallery site to buy something off our website.  She said yes.  She said they would know how many hits our site had but it would be the honor system if someone purchased.  Is this a standard practice?  Just wondering........

Website Ads On Your Website

31 October 2016 - 10:05 AM

I got an email from a ceramic supplier this morning offering commission from them if a person puts their ads on your website.  5% commission.   If you had a lot of traffic on your site, that could add up nicely.  I think we all have gotten pretty used to the ads that pop up everywhere, including our email, but part of me thinks that would be distracting on your personal website.....just thought I would ask.  And no, I don't have a website yet.  Still busy making pots! ;)

Maybe this should be a QOTW?

New To Wood Firing

30 July 2016 - 10:48 AM

I am pretty excited.....I have been firing electric cone 6 for 5 years and my clay guy invited me to put some pieces on a shelf for a wood firing in September!   I have some cone 10 clay.  He said I can use his slips and glazes.  What else do I need to know??

Feldspar Question

27 April 2016 - 04:23 PM

I am mixing up some test batches.  I was going to mix up a glaze that requires F4 Feldspar.  I looked at the  feldspar chart in John Britt's book.  Minspar appears to be close to F4 feldspar.  Is it close enough?  Since this is not horseshoes, thought I would ask.
