Dilettante between stained glass and clay
So I am a former chemist and meteorologist (USAF) and then got the MFA in creative writing - novels--Penn State. Now I own a high tech company that deals in technical support for high end data storage. I am good at math and so got stuck doing accounting, quotes, sales, and inventory -- clay and glass are an oasis. I refuse to turn on the computer over the weekend, my method for art is eclectic and about as unscientific as you can get. I just try stuff. You'd think that making my own glazes would be natural, as a chemist, but I can't face it. Too organized for my free time, so i buy off the shelf. I love painting on glass with Reusche paints.Find it mesmerizing.. When painting or working with glass or clay I can forget employees, sales or lack thereof and am free. never have considered myself an artist.I am a craftsman. Sorry for the typing. iPad. I find myself drawn to medieval imagery and method, it draws me in. I give away my pieces if someone likes one. Part of that is the detachment from lack of confidence that what I've made is really worthy, but then they still are my children of sorts. (Of course to be honest, if I don't give some of them away there would be no room for the new ones.). thank you all for your posts. I get ideas every time I read this list. It is strange that I know that I should take notes and document what happens with each project, but I just don't want to. There's already too much structure in my iLife . so thats a struggle. Mentally I need the freedom to experiment. Does anyone else feel that way ?
