Olympic Kiln

21 March 2015 - 10:26 PM

I am considering ordering a Olympic Medallion MAS 2323HE Kiln I was wondering if anyone out there has owned an Olympic kiln.   The interior is 23.5x22.5 which is 5 inches shorter than my Skutt, it has 3"brick, heavy duty elements, and fires to 2350F.  It also has a Bartlett V6-CF controller,  I have never used a controller before but I thought this one looked like something I could manage.  My 45year old small paragon gave out on me last week, last time I had it repaired my kiln guy told me it was the last time.  My Skutt is also getting up in years and is going to need a lot of repair and it is so deep it's always been hard for me to load.  I would appreciate any info you can give me on the Olympics kilns or the Bartlett controller.  Denice

Crafts In America

02 November 2014 - 11:56 PM

I just watched an interesting show on PBS Crafts in America, it was about the military introducing crafts into a soldier's life. One of the men they feature that took art classes on the GI bill after World War II was Peter Vulcos. Most of the show was soldiers working with clay, they touched on a few other areas such as paper making and leather work.  Someone living in the western time zone should be able to still catch it tonight.  Denice
