Grueby Style Glaze

Recommended Posts

Hello, I would like to find recipes and methods for developing my own arts and crafts style MATTE glazes. They seem to be hard to find on the general web. Can some one supply me with a basic starter recipe, cone 6, and a path or direction I can follow in developing my own glazes...principles, tips, website, book, etc.

thank you very much, paul

These are the books I use/recommend most often:

Mastering Cone 6 Glazes by John Hesselberth and Ron Roy, The Complete Guide to High-Fire Glazes by John Britt, and Cushing's Handbook by Val Cushing (availabe from the author).

Thank you...Mastering cone 6 glazes is at the top of my wish list on Amazon...just need to take a deep breath and hit Buy.

If you go to my gallery on this site, I posted a picture and a recipe of such a glaze. I have found the matte glazes in Michael Bailey's ^6 recipes to be a good starting point.

here is the link to my gallery picture with comment.

The comment is the recipe.
