Brazilian Tv Show Needs Help Identifying Ceramic Jar - F. Brayne Ranee

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I´m a writer for a TV show in Brazil. We came accros a guy who needs money and has a great collection of things. We are telling his story.

The thing is; he has no clue of the value on his stuff. We are trying to make an auction to help him.

I´m cornered on this bottle. Can anyone help me identifying it? My goal is to guess a value based on history of the Jar

Here are some pictures of the detail on the jar.

if there is any trouble answering here, you can reply me at guilhermetome@gmail.com

thanks a lot!

This looks like it is an older piece than those links, salt fired jugs where sometimes used as ballast on ships, so there use to be a lot of them. The double handles make me think it's either of that age or a reproduction, If it is an early example, it could be worth quite a lot in theory.

This looks like it was painted red at some point in its life, might hurt the value. No idea what it is worth, that would be difficult to judge from those photos unless someone with very specific knowledge stumbles upon this! Perhaps call nearby museums, ask if they can look or recommend someone with proper knowledge?
