noviartteacher
I fired some commercial bisque tiles that were painted with a low fire glaze ^05. Now strange things are happening to the tiles. Water keeps appearing on the surface and back of the fired tiles. I have used the same tiles and glaze for years and have never seen anything like this. Please help J
Mark C.
My guess is they are not vitrified and can hold moisture . Mark
Biglou13
have you done quality control on your kiln eg witness cones? kiln may be under firing have you tested fired clay unglazed for vitrification? i if your buying tiles pre made..... i'd query the manufacturer
bciskepottery
Could the manufacturer of the commercial tiles have changed clay or clay ingredients that is affecting absorbency?
neilestrick
If they're commercial wall tile, they are not vitrified, and therefore can absorb moisture. Are you using them as coasters?
