elaine clapper
I had a teapot in which the glaze filled in the small holes opening into the spout. I drilled out the glaze. My nonfunctional teapot now pours nicely but.... there are unglazed areas where I used the drill. If I put more glaze on those spots and refire (cone 5), i am afraid of ruining the original glaze. If I put a low fire glaze o those small spots and refire at cone 06 will it affect the original glaze. or... is there any type of sealant I could just brush on the small spots that would be food safe??? bciskepottery
Go with it as is; I would not chance a refire. On my (few and far between) teapots, I wax the holes so the clay is bare. If you rinse the teapot out after use with hot water, soap, it will be okay -- not a whole lot different than a bare clay gallery on a lidded container. Yinxing teapots are unglazed on the insides; they are usually used for just one type of tea and become seasoned from repeated use.
flowerdry
Especially if your clay is vitrified, this shouldn't be a problem.
