claclana
Hi, is it possible to add something to commercial clear glaze to make it crackle? and if I add a layer of regular glaze underneath the crackling glaze will it add more adhesion to it (sometimes may flake) or just get in the way of the crack effect? Thanks!
bciskepottery
Because we don't know what the commercial clear raw materials consist of, it would be difficult to suggest an addition to make that glaze crackle. By adding something to it, you might make the glaze unstable, etc. You are better off just trying to find a commercial clear crackle glaze or, if you can mix your own glaze, find a recipe for a clear crackle and mix that. High Bridge Pottery
I wouldn't have thought a crackle glaze would come off the pot. Is a crackle glaze a glaze that has crazed? To make a glaze craze you would want to add in some high expansion oxides.
