DebinCA
Hi, I have acquired an old Evenheat 1210 kiln with a kiln sitter that was originally designed for china painting up to 1800°F (982°C), cone 07. Can I use a low fire clay even though it is recommended to fire at cone 06? What will happen if I bisque and glaze this clay at cone 07?
neilestrick
You probably won't have any problems with the clay, but if you're using commercial low fire glazes that are meant to go to cone 05/04 then your glaze will be under-fired. You'll also be firing that kiln to its max, which means the firings may be really long and slow, assuming it gets to temperature at all.
DebinCA
Hmm. Okay, thanks! I guess I'll just give it a whirl and hope for the best.
