Min
Bouncing off Rebekah’s topic of First Show I’m wondering what peoples go to display props are? Out of all the things I’ve tried my favourite is the Flexi Stand from Axner. They work on large pieces, are adjustable and unobtrusive. Anybody else have anything that really works? Callie Beller Diesel
I got some really good mileage out of those LED click puck lights at a recent night market. Adding lighting considerations in a dark tent was a whole new ball game.
oldlady
puck lights can be great but buy a bunch of batteries of the CORRECT size. the ones that come with them die quickly.
GEP
I bought this folding chair from Ikea a few years ago. I love it because it folds so much flatter that the wood director's chair I used before. Now when I go to shows, it seems like half of my neighbors are using this exact chair, in various colors. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00199208/
clay lover
I don't know about 'puck lights' do they come from Lowe's or Home Depot? I hate the work of setting up my lights and extension cords but know the value of lights.
bciskepottery
My go to for display . . . pieces of 2x4 and 2x2 cut square and painted gray (to match my display stand). Great for providing elevation to one item in a group of three, etc. For larger items, just put two squares together.
Callie Beller Diesel
Clay Lover, I got mine at Canadian Tire, but I think Home Depot and the like should carry something similar. Just those little touch lights you get in a 3-pack, sometimes in with the flashlights and stuff.
clay lover
Are those all the lights you use? If so, don't you need a gazillion for a double booth?
Rebekah Krieger
I picked up some potted plant stands for larger bowls, they seem nice
oldlady
my puck lights are from home depot. they are supposed to stick to bottom of the shelf above the one you want to light. i found that the velcro sticks to the wood shelf but the weight of the light and possibly the heat(?) made the lights fall down. those batteries are heavy. only used them once. the light is concentrated in a circle that depends on the spacing of the shelves. you can see these things in operation in new model homes kitchens and at home depot where they demo kitchens. those are from 18 inches above so they seem just right at that distance. Callie Beller Diesel
I'm still doing a single booth myself, and they're more for highlighting some points. They're a nice touch n the dark of a night market, but not my only source of illumination, no. They do fall down if they're suspended by the adhesive they come with, but I find uplighting can be used to good effect, as well.
