High Bridge Pottery
Would it be possible to fire a kiln with hydrogen? Just reading an article about better hydrogen generation and it got me thinking. http://www.iflscience.com/chemistry/faster-better-hydrogen-production
Guest JBaymore
There was an article on this exact subject recently in one of the ceramics mags. High Bridge Pottery
Thanks John, will have to see if I can get a subscription to that mag. Sounds like I would enjoy reading it. Just got me thinking that if they keep improving in 10-20 years we could all be doing small scale hydrogen generation to fuel our kilns. alabama
Hey, We were studying hydrogen run autos in 2005 in Automechanic School. Since running cars with ethanol is a hoax on a National scale, I'd like to see more research done with hydrogen. If you knew how much ethanol costs each person using it, you couldn't afford to drive. Ball-park figures would be a 6 cylinder costs 21% more to drive using 10% ethanol and an 8 cylinder costs 25% more to drive with 10% ethanol. At $3.00 a gal. at the pump, You're actually paying $3.63 a gallon on the road, due to loss of mileage with a v-6 and $3.75 with a v-8. But anyway, since kilns are all about BTUs I wouldn't doubt that a hydrogen fired kiln would be too far fetched and would be economical, also. Thanks, Alabama
