Chilly
Apart from rarities, if it's free and you've got storage space, take anything you normally spend money on. Then use your own money to buy things you wouldn't normally choose, so you can experiment.
TJR
I just got a bunch of free stuff. Had to move it down a flight of stairs and I am now 61, so I am a bit choosier at what I tale. Cobalt Carb is the first thing. it's about 435.00 an ounce here. Look for a small margarine container. i scored on this one. Anything you use for glaze making, you should take, like gerstely Borate, Flint, Ball clay, Custer spar. any torn bags of white powder with no label just leave. these are not a bargain to deal with. I still have a big crap-load of Flourspar that I will never use in a million years. Makes a good green, but I don't use it. Free materials is always like Christmas, but only if you know what the stuff is and how to use it. Enjoy! TJR.

Someone recently GAVE me 5 pounds of cobalt carb. Where I live it sells for about 40-50 dollars (US) per pound.
