TortoiseAvenger
I have some red cadmium, and I would like to get a nice red oxide stain. If I just mix a little cadmium with some frit, will this get me there at cone six? I heard there were some concerns with cadmium bleaching out higher temperatures. What are you guys think? Marcia Selsor
I think there is more to worry about with cadmium other than bleaching at ^6. Be careful with that chemical. Very toxic.Check the Material Data base to understand what you have there. http://www.nilechemicals.com/Cadmiumoxide%20msds.htm Marcia
TortoiseAvenger
I worked for quite awhile as a chemist and am aware of what I'm up against.

TortoiseAvenger
Almost. Cadmium sulfoselenide
Guest JBaymore
Nasty stuff. In that form it is quite fuguitive at cone 6. You'd need high percentages to hold color. Reduction kills it. As does trace sulphur compounds in the kiln atmosphere. Are you in the USA.... if so... check the US FDA laws about using it on ceramic wares.... and also California standards if you sell or give it away there. best, ................john
