gabriel
Hello, I am attempting to decorate cremation burial urns with gold trim, but cannot seem to find a way to create clean, straight edges that don't have rough spots. I have tried using auto detailing (pin striping) tape, but still tend to get somewhat ragged line edges. Can anyone suggest methods of application, and/or direct me to a source of instruction for applying gold? Thanks, Gabriel
Colby Charpentier
When you say gold glaze, I'm assuming you're using a lustre? If that's the case, the quality of surface won't change much, so you're going to have to have a good surface to begin with. If the material is so thin that your tape isn't resisting properly, add a tiny bit of binder or let some water evaporate. It's a little unclear as to what you're using and what you're trying to do.. Mark369
My problem may be your solution. Office carbon paper has wax in it, which repels glaze and can leave a clean line. practice on some test pieces first. A thick heavy carbon line should work best. gabriel
Thank you for your responses, Colby and Mark. I am using the Duncan (I believe that's the brand) 7% bright gold luster. I'm just trying to get a perfectly smooth, thin line, and at $30 for a thimble-full, it's a little pricey to experiment with.
