What Would You Like Santa To Bring?

Recommended Posts

A 10X20' addition to the studio would be nice, then I would have room for a pug mill, and maybe a few more wheels and a slab roller and extruder. Since the first one is not going to happen, guess I'll settle for a bucket of coal and a stove to heat the studio! I'm sure the electric bill is going to be a pain with this cold weather.

Peace on Earth.............Man, you guys are selfish......

Seriously, I'd just like help setting up my kiln.  The switch covers need to be gone through, and cleaned out.  One of the connection plugs doesn't sit well with the ring below it, and I need a new actual plug for the end, because the current one is old, and gigantic.  I also need a 220 V outlet run to the studio itself.

A 10X20' addition to the studio would be nice,

A 10 X 20 studio would be nice!

I'm currently using my garage which is roughly that size, but I share it with 5 bikes, a  large chest freezer, an 8' X 3'  carpenters bench (and many ancillaries and associated materials), and a load of fishing gear.

There's some clay in there somewhere too, plus two kilns and and a wheel.

A cure for my wife's MS would be better.

Peace on earth and equality for all!.... A lot to ask but can you imagine how that would feel for just one minute?

With that little thing taken care of, then a slab roller would be a great asset. AND for you guys too generously keep giving the amazing advice for ever, amen.

Greedy person here!

Thank you all for your generosity and willingness to answer any question asked.

Peace and health to you all.

My wish is for everyone everywhere to find love and be loved. On a more personal wish list since I already have THAT so I guess this list falls under the Catagory of what to get the girl who has everything.

1) my husband and love of my life to be feeling better and have his health get more stable

2) for all my Pugs to live forever and never get old

3) someone to teach me NOW how to center this stupid ball of clay so I don't have to wait until class in January

4) to get established once more so I can get back to supporting myself as an artist

5) oh and I already opened my Christmas present... See #3 and you'll know what it is.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to one and all!

Terry

I'll go with peace on earth as well

I do not want anything and have to much and after 15 sales days in December just want x-mas to get over.

I am looking forward to Christmas day as its my 1st day off in many months.

No gifts-my wife says I killed x-mas for her.

thats what 35 years of x-mas sales does-I see the good and the bad and just want it over-its a love hate deal.

It does me some good to think on x-mas day my pots are being given in many states and in many countries-just last weekend sold pots going to England and Africa.

My studio to be finished, so I don't have to work in the freezing, cold basement.

And an extruder of some sort.

And a table to dry the wet clay, like my teacher has. :)

And of course, Peace On Earth. I think I have a better chance of a finished cottage than that, sadly.

It's 2 weeks until Christmas. What is on your wish list?

I'm thinking pugmill and I know that's unrealistic, but if you are going to dream, then dream Big!

Realistically, more like a space heater and a radio for my studio!

BTW, what do you mean by "What is on your wish list?"

It's not YOU (me) who should be on that list. ;)

Your local homeless children are the ones who need your help (by "help" I do not mean old junk from your basement or your attic) To find out, what they actually need, make a phone call to your local homeless children center and ask.

I am amazed how a day (days) of helping the most unfortunate (depends, where you live), has become over-commercialized international event of celebrating greed and faking you care.

BTW, did you know that Coca-Cola Corporation gave the Fat Guy his red coat. Some say it started form Russia, where St. Nicholas had a red cape and white beard. I read, that St. Nicholas had a green cape. And this deer, if I recall, popped into existence at the end of 1940.

Yes, you got it! I dislike X mas because it's utterly fake. I prefer winter solstice as a something to celebrate because I live far up north and it actually feels good, when ~4 h of day"light" starts to turn in to 5 and then 6 and finally sky never gets dark (my favourite time).

Bottom line is, you do not need that fake holiday to be nice to people around you ("nice" is not fake and empty American smile, you guys flash all the time.)

Please, dear fellow artist, try to evolve! Pull yourself free form corporate BS and their fake "merry" what ever.

Celebrate the good old winter solstice (because this is what its all about). If this not you cup of tee (wonder why?), dig up some information on that Saint Nicholas of yours and follow his footsteps - pretending, once a year, you actually give a s** is way better than never. Figure out, how can you do it for the next 364 days.

BTW, J.C was not born in December. Oops! This event was moved to that particular time of the year to replace and destroy our ancient customs, celebrated for many thousands of years before.

aaa... Back to the original question: What do I want. Lets see now. Peace on earth? Hell no! There is 5 billion of us too many here. I rather have <2 billion happy people that >7 billion miserable slaved souls, killing each other so their corporate masters can have a bigger yacht or large house and even stupider trophy wife.

I'll just keep dreaming about that new kiln and bigger studio space. (or quit and get a real job so I can buy one myself)

Alrighty then. Perhaps we'll add a cure to cabin fever for our frozen friends as well. And don't you dare presume to know me. You have no idea what I may or may not do for assorted charities at the holiday season or throughout the year for that matter. This thread was intended to be fun. Thanks for spewing your negativity and hatred and dragging it to the depths of your apparently miserable wasteland.

Hi, Peachy, welcome to the board.

Thanks for starting this thread.

Many of us don't have fancy studios, or all the equipment we might need, or an old kiln that is limping along. But clay brings us together and I'm always glad to get my morning coffee and check in before starting my day to see who is thinking about what in clay.

Best Holiday Wishes to All! Hope we each get what we long for. Especially ayjay. Hugs to you and your wife.

I sit her today after watching my 2 yr old nephew because my 11 yr old nephew is in the hospital on life support due to luekodystrophy which Literally eats the white matter in his brain since age 2- . My sisters family has had a 6 month fundraiser strongly promoted by me so they could get a handicapped wheelchair lift van. We were only able to raise $2000. She cannot lift him because of her rheumatoid arthritis flair ups. It doesn't sit we'll to have my charities questioned.

I think we all want peace, end starvation, cures etc. I replied thinking this was a fun thread about our pottery wish lists.

Hey, focus people, what has made you smile, feel blessed today? Now wish this feeling on all, take a moment to feel blessed and then move on. The smile on your face will affect whoever it lands on.

Not usually writing these thoughts but special days make us bring this to the fore of our brains and  if xmas works this way for people, then hey that's great. That's what's great about rituals!!!

Thank you for this fun topic ..... I'm with Pres - I would LOVE more space - and I was going to mention more warmth .... maybe a wood-burner? but then I've just read the replies to the "Freezing" topic and it made me realise how very lucky I am to be where I am - so thanks for that too!
