La Meridiana is a fabulous place to stay and learn, and just enjoy the experience. we'll be making a freestanding architectural work, a fountain, and people of all skill levels are welcome. we'll be firing the work in the wood kiln at the end of week 2, as well a touring some local towns such as Volterra, San Gimignano, Certaldo and Siena. It will be a small group. There are a few spaces left. hope to see you there!

I can't attend the workshop, but I will be in my Italian studio, 2,5 car hours from la Meridiana, in Liguria, beginning of June, and we could meet for dinner? How about that Marcia?

"To me the greatest thing is to live beauty in our daily life and to crowd every moment with things of beauty.  It is then, and then only that  the art of the people as a whole is endowed with it's richest significance.  For it's products are those made by great a many craftsmen for the mass of the people, and the moment this art declines the life of the nation  is removed far away from beauty.  So long as beauty abides in only in a few articles created by a few geniuses, the kingdom of beauty is nowhere near realization."                                                                                 - Bernard Leach

Here are some pics from our Architectural ceramics workshop at la Meridiana June 2014. This shows a little of the construction process, the final product with our group and an accidental run in with a Medieval celebration in San Gimignano on Sunday, Santa Fina's Feast Day.Our group included people from Singapore, Israel, Australia, California, New Mexico and Georgia.
Great cross section of clay people with different backgrounds. And definitely a hands on workshop.
