How Are Thermofax Screens Used?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

THere is a video on the site where thermofax screens are used, but really, no explanation given rather than put them on evenly. What are they? I can't find anything about that in relation to pottery. The woman put a floral dot design on the mug, it seemed to transfer color onto the mug. Is the paint put on the screen? Is it heated on when the screen is made?

Do any of you do this? It seems to be a way to get consistent design elements, if that is what I want. Thanks,

Nancy

This is a video clip of Judy Pierce using a thermofax-type device to make a screen. The units are only sold in Australia/Japan, unfortunately. There are places you can send/email a file with your drawings/images and they will burn you a thermofax -- costs around $11 to $15/page. A thermofax machine runs about $1500.00.
