Really Simple Question

I'm making mugs with a simple small logo stamp and want to know how to allow the stamp to show without glaze running into the small letters. I don't want to simply wax the logo because I do not think it will look right. The clay is a cone 6 reddish stoneware & the glaze used is a ochre slightly runny shino. Sorry if this is elementary, I am self taught and can't seem to find good information about this process.

Thanks, I appreciate any help.

Couple of ideas to consider . . .

Rather than stamping directly onto the side of the mug, stamp a separate shape of clay and affix to the mug ... raised relief.  Then, if you wax the relief before glazing.  That will give a different look and feature the logo stamp.

Wash the stamp area with an oxide wash to highlight it, then wax the stamp area and glaze.  The oxide wash will make the stamp a bit more "finished" than if left bare.

Use a brush and apply the wax in a broad brush stroke over the logo and surrounding area. . . making the waxed area more organic and less formal looking than if you just waxed the logo itself.

A few more options here.  When you do the stamp in the other piece of clay-use a different clay color-white or darker brown. I do stamping of a logo on plates every year. I take the simple route and stamp in the plate right after the clay has started to approach cheese hard. Then after bisquefire I use an oxide wash over the area, sanding off excess instead of washing so that I get strong contrast. Then I glaze the piece with a thinner coat in that area so the oxide bleeds through the glaze. I predominantly dip and brush now, but as soon as I get a spray booth, I'll be spraying.
