clay lover
Lately, I have been having trouble with the posts in the lower half of my glaze kiln firings stick hard to the shelf above, not to the shelf they sit on. The temps are the same as always, the posts are the same. Any guesses? Little bits of the post edges are breaking off , stuck hard to the shelves. Since this in on the bottom of the shelf, there is no kiln wash there. Should add, some of these posts are 2nd hand, maybe very old.
TJR
Stick the ends of each post into a thin layer of kiln wash. This should solve your problem. TJR
Marcia Selsor
I agree with TJR. All my posts are dipped in kiln wash for both gas and electric kilns.. It keeps them from dropping off as they are unloaded and breaking things. just a 1/4" is plenty. Marcia

You only need a very thin layer. TJR.
