Chantay
Hi I'm looking for some help. I am currently using Standard 240 and the Laguna Moroccan Sand glazes. I buy the glazes dry and mix them myself. Huge savings without having to mix my own glazes. I am doing some slip work and want to use glazes that will brake over the slip. The test tiles on the various web stores leave much to be desired. Has anyone used these glazes and know which ones would break over raised design?? I just can't afford to buy to many glazes at once and would like to purchase ones that suite my need best. I will post an example of some work. Thanks for any reply's. -chantay
weeble
There are many MANY Laguna glazes that break. I'm assuming you fire to cone 5. Try this page, it has the older style chips for most of the glazes and they actually show how the glazes break over the letters. Laguna glaze chips If you want transparent (like the photo you showed), Peacock (MS-27), Golden Green, Turkish Amber, and Forest Green (MS-04, not MS-78) are the best ones in that line. I use these on tiles with imprinted designs and they show every tiny detail. Some of the others break in very interesting ways, you'll just have to look at the chips. Look at other brands too, there are some good transparent glazes out there.
Chantay
Maryjane, Thanks for the link. Yes, the tiles on that site are better. I was able to pick out three more glazes to try. I won't be buying from there. The prices were nearly three times what I pay now. -chantay OK, so I don't know what happened with the pic. I had it sized to 3" x 4". Now I can't fix it.
