madi beattie
Hi Guys, I am in the process of making baby gifts for my business and I want to make porcelain shoes by dipping baby shoes in porcelain slip. Has anyone tried something like this before? If so do you have any advice on how best to do this? I'd really appreciate any help my idea. Thanks madeleine
neilestrick
If you dip the shoe in slip, the slip will shrink as it dries and flake right of the shoe. The only way I can think of to do this is to make a plaster mold of the shoe and then cast the porcelain. It would not be a simple mold to make, though, as there will be a lot on undercuts to deal with. You could always have them bronzed.
Chris Campbell
I agree with Neil ... The slip will just fall off as it shrinks. If you Google "baby shoe molds" you will get a lot of hits for molds you could use.
