Arnold Howard
hey all. i finally tested my temps. top, middle and bottom. im trying for an 06, and this is what i got. I would redistribute the load in the kiln: Load more ware in the the center section and less ware in the bottom. Maybe you could eliminate one of the shelves in the bottom section. Mark C.
Your bottom is colder as are most electrics Your middle is almost just right your top is a little hotter than bottom I would do what Arnold said and fire again with cones before adjusting kiln sitter. And if you do try an adjustment its going to be a very small one. Mark

(This is similar to adjusting the load density.) After each test firing, I glued the test cones to a piece of cardboard along with notes. Then the engineers shifted the ohms between the elements. By adding or subtracting ohms, we evened out the heat in the kiln. That was with our early SnF-series automatic kilns. neilestrick
Next time you need a new kiln, get one with a digital controller and zone control. Zone control allows each ring of the kiln to fire independently, so the firings are even throughout the kiln. Most brands offer it, some have it as standard equipment.
