anjima36 Posted June 27, 2012 Report Share Posted June 27, 2012 I just bought a kiln on craigs list. It has something melted on the bottom, it looks like a seriously over fired piece. Porcelain maybe?? It is covering half the bottom. What to do? Any suggestions? I got it for 75 bucks so if I need to buy a new bottom that would work money wise. Mark C. Posted June 27, 2012 Report Share Posted June 27, 2012 Clean the crude off by chipping or grinding then Flip your floor over and put the bad side down rebuild kiln on to new bottom side. If there are any chunks of the melted gunk keeping the floor from sitting level on the stand, then try to chisel them off. DAY Posted June 27, 2012 Report Share Posted June 27, 2012 I always put some 1" posts on the floor, and a shelf on top of that. It stays in place, until I need to vacuum the kiln.
