Bisque fire cone 6 glaze then refire to cone 6

Recommended Posts

Good evening,

I have several pieces I need to bisque but don't have enough to fill a kiln. Could i put previously bisqued pieces in that have un fired cone 6 glaze on them to fill the kiln? Complete an 06 bisque fire, then fire everything a second time to cone 6 glaze?

I have an electric kiln.

Thank you for any advice,

Jo

Don't worry about firing it half empty. It happens. Just distribute what you have evenly throughout the kiln and fire it up. No filler needed. Plus some cone 6 glazes can start melting at low fire temps, and they may not like being fired partway up.

I've been in that situation..better to fire a partial load than do the low fire with the mid fire glazes. For the future-get someone to give you a few kiln bricks or extra posts or broken shelf to use as "filler".
