Carrick
Hi all you experienced potters . hope you can help , I’ve recently started to sculp with terracotta clay , my first piece bisque fired successfully and I then used crackle goldene on a small part and clear earthenware gloss on the rest ugh way to shiny , goldene looks fabulous. my question is , could I reglaze her with a clear matte to take the shine off her . looking forward to words of wisdom . Chilly
You could try. But better is to make a small sample, glaze it with the clear earthenware gloss, then reglaze with matt and see what happens. Always better to test on a sample than a nice (even though not what you wanted) finished pot. You could also try putting a wax polish on it, and not buffing it to a full shine. Callie Beller Diesel
If you have access to a sandblaster, that can give a soft matte surface as well.
Denice
You could try a glass etching product to make it a satin mat, even some cleaning products will etch glass. I have ruined a shower door or two using the wrong cleaner on it. Denice
