jimfetzer 0 Report post Posted January 19 I am looking for a new wax for my horse hair pottery. I currently use a good carnauba paste wax, but it turns a slight off white. I would like a clear wax over the white terra sig. Any ideas?
glazenerd 1,330 Report post Posted January 19 Jim: i have used Miniwax Finishing wax for many years on wood: it dries clear satin. Do not know how it would act on ceramic; but it should retain its clear finish. Test it, is all I can advise. T 1 jimfetzer reacted to this
jimfetzer 0 Report post Posted January 20 I have tried a clear sealant spray and a spray wax. Both looked terrible.
neilestrick 2,679 Report post Posted January 20 We used to use Future floor wax, which is now Pledge with Future Shine or something like that. The trick is to polish it up with a rag after applying it.
glazenerd 1,330 Report post Posted January 20 Jim: back in 2012-13 or so: they removed VOC propellants. The inert gas they use now creates a crystalline effect in urethane, etc. I gave up on spray products awhile back. 1 Rae Reich reacted to this

It can be buffed to high shine or left more satin. It does have a slight yellow tinge to the final product especially if it is a thick application.
Dick White 249 Report post Posted January 22 I too use the Future acrylic floor wax, now branded as Pledge Floor Care Finish. As nobody has linoleum floors that need to be waxed anymore, most stores selling household care products don't carry it, so I now order it online from the big river in South America. I apply 2 light coats with a foam sponge, and you can handle it very soon after applying the wax. Straight from the bottle, it will be pretty glossy, but I've found I can reduce the gloss somewhat by cutting the wax half and half with water. 1 Rae Reich reacted to this
