thew
Hi, I have purchased an older Duncan Energy Saver kiln with the "shuttle" foam top and bottom. Does anyone have any information on this material? The previous owners have put stilts on the floor and they have left an impression about an inch or so deep. I am wondering how to put a bottom shelf in also. Can I lay one right on top of the foam/bottom?
Mark C.
This is not foam but I suspect is ceramic fiber. Never heard of high temp foam. The placement of supports will be critical- I suggest calling Paragon kilns as If I recall sold Duncan these kilns and parts and ask them your question of where to place supports. They will know 1-800-876-4328 What will matter is whats under the fiber as it should not get compressed much and you need good solid support under the shelve stack.
