Sintering is a common way to harden the surface of a powdery glaze like majolica.  You can also spray it with laundry starch or hair spray without causing any problem with overglaze decorating. I think that is easier than firing  a sinter load.

The sinter firing will not have any effect for the glaze firing or heat work.

oh, yes, i have had the same problem with some glazes.  i found that drawing the line toward me instead of any other direction made it easier.  and i was very glad to have a wire to clear the clogs that always seem to happen.

Do you know anyone that plays the guitar, I bet either a B or E string might work

How do people play guitar without cutting their fingers to ribbons?

Calluses, or as John Lennon once said, "I've got blisters on my fingers!"

lost another post, it would have been #6 so here goes.  sputty, if you peel back the insulation on the electric wire and cut the  extra wires but leave some insulation, you have a handle that makes the wire more visible.  bright orange paint might make it more obvious in the piles of stuff that accumulate in any studio.
