Error Codes On Skutt 1027

Hi Everybody,

I'm trying to figure out how to turn off the error messages on my Skutt 1027. I have found how to do it on the newer models, but mine is older, and doesn't have a Menu button, so I'm not sure how to make it happen.

Does anybody know how to do this, or if it's even possible?

Thanks!

I know, seems silly.

I get an Err 2 anytime I try to fire to Cone 6. My kiln has been checked out, and the elements and everything deemed fine. The suggestion was to turn off the Error messages and just let it keep firing even though it isn't gaining heat as quickly as it would like.

I strongly recommend that you do not turn of the error codes. They're there for a reason- safety.

Error 2 comes up when the temperature rises above where it's supposed to be, not because it's heating too slowly. This is usually caused by a stuck relay, which can be very difficult to diagnose since they often don't stick until the kiln is good and hot. Have you or your repair guy confirmed that there isn't a sticky relay by testing the kiln immediately after the error code 2 appears? It's also possible that the thermocouple is bad. They can skip around and cause problems at high temps. Did you replace it?

If you're getting an error code, then everything isn't fine- there's something wrong. It could be a problem in the controller, which is still a problem, but more likely it's something else. Usually when controllers go bad they act very strangely. Turning off the error codes is a band-aid, not a cure.

If my kiln had a menu button  on it I would order some pizza. I heard the new kilns have programs that link to your smart phone so any restaurant that delivers would be fair game right from the menu.

Hey one could start a bake your own in the kiln-sort of like the pizza bread oven craze that went thru a few years back-Just need a newer kiln with menu button.
