tsutsumi
Hi. I am new to the community. I am looking to acquire a potters wheel. Kick wheel or motorized. I live in Olympia, Washington. I will pay what is reasonable, but ideally i hope to acquire one that is no longer used, for free. Hope you all had a great new years eve! I look forward to hearing from you
Marcia Selsor
Welcome to the community. We don't allow buying and selling on this forum. but there are good sites out there to find used equipment. Craigslist for your area is a good start. On Facebook, the Potter's Attic is a buy/sell site with lots of good deals. if you want advice on one you're considering, ask here for opinions. Mark C.
There are many other sites that do . It against the rules here. Most other things are fine so ask away and welcome.
Marcia Selsor
Actually, most suppliers will have posted used equipment on bulletin boards. Call around. Ask your supplier. It is always good to deal locally when you can. Where are you located? Marcia

Benzine
I got my electric wheel off of Craig's List. Looking at eBay doesn't hurt, but many sellers there, seem to overvalue what they've got. Publicsurplus.com and govdeals.com are a great place to get a deal. The sellers bigger organizations, that are just looking to get rid of things. The only way the price will get really high is due to a bidding war. On Govdeals, I nearly got a very nice "used" kiln for $400. Little to no wear, computer controller, very nice. It was from a school district, who has the money to trade up more often than they should... Kick wheels will be much easier to acquire. They are big and heavy, so sometimes people just want to get them gone. I sold one of my classroom kilns for next to nothing, to a student at a local studio. It was a treadle wheel, and it worked well enough, but it was just in the way, and no one liked to use it.
