Vylst
Hi, I don't know if this forum is the right place to ask this, so sorry in advance, but here's the deal: A friend of mine has a really special terracota clay pot that accidentally fell and broke. I gathered the cracks and took them away and I would like to fix it for him in a cool way. Does anybody know which glue is the best to glue broken pots? Also, is there any way I could mix some glow in the dark blue paint or resin or powder in the glue, to make the cracks look prettier after glued? JohnnyK
I've used gel type super glue on a ceramic vase and it's held up for 5 years so far... JK
LeeU
I mix all kinds of stuff in glues when joining shards-my favorite is micro dust (very fine glitter). If it works for the piece, it should be used judiciously, with a light touch (unless a thicker raised surface is desired) and "with purpose". Watch out for glues that foam if you don't want that look.
perkolator
Any CA glue should work (cyanoacrylate aka super glue, krazy glue, etc) but a 2-part epoxy is technically stronger, but harder to control/wield/apply. I'd just use the CA glue in this instance. You can mix all sorts of materials in with adhesives. Whether it actually improves the surface afterward is highly subjective. Rae Reich
The more space you create between shards, with colorants, dust or epoxy, the harder it will be to fit that last remaining piece. The liquid Super/Krazy glues take up the least space. There are directions in teeny tiny print for joining non-porous (high fire) clay. If you do put something pretty in the glue, be prepared to do some careful grinding for fit.
