chezzi64
Hi there people. I'm a newbie to forums so please forgive me if I do anything wrong. I am looking to make a parian slip that I used to make over 30 years ago. I have my old recipe but cannot find one of the ingredients anywhere online. it is 'Soda Glass'. Does anyone know either, where I could buy this ingredient please? or if it is no longer in use could anyone suggest an alternative that I could try. thanks. High Bridge Pottery
You might have better luck with glass blowing suppliers or you could start smashing up jars and bottles. Soda-lime glass, also called soda-lime-silica glass, is the most prevalent type of glass, used for windowpanes and glass containers (bottles and jars) for beverages, food, and some commodity items. Glass bakeware is often made of temperedsoda-lime glass.[1] Soda-lime glass accounts for about 90% of manufactured glass.
neilestrick
If you can't find someone who supplies premixed powdered glass, you can probably find a frit that will work.
oldlady
could you be looking for soda ash, sodium carbonate?
PeterH
In the UK a www.ebay.co.uk search for glass frit identifies several suppliers you might consider talking to. If you give your the thread your location you might get a more focussed reply.

neilestrick
Do you have a recipe with the unity formula? That would make this much simpler. Even a basic recipe would help.
