Shelly M
I have two earthenware pieces were glazed and fired but they didn't come out to my liking. I'm not working with any more low fire clay but have a load of cone 5/6 pieces ready for bisque firing. Can I reglaze my two low fire, earthenware pieces and put them in the same load with my bisque ware and fire to cone 05? I'm not sure if the speed (slow) and the burnout of organic matter in the bisque firing process will affect the glaze on my two pieces.
Marcia Selsor
The burn off can effect the glazes, but if you are going the the same temp. you can do it.I don't believe ^05 glazes need a longer soak at the end. Marcia
oldlady
put the glazed pieces in the cooler part of your kiln. if you do not know where that is, put them on the bottom shelf. that way, if anything in the raw ware does have something bad to burn out, it will be above the pieces you are worried about. pamela.brodbeck
I learned that if you have a vent under your kiln, put the glaze pieces at the top of the load or with no vent, put the glaze pieces at the bottom to keep the draw from hurting the glazes. graybeard
I tend to fire my glaze loads a lot faster than my bisque loads, but as long as I remember that there is bisque in with the glazed and and fire the load as a bisque load I haven't had any problems. (the trick for me is remembering) graybeard
Celia UK
I've done this lots of times without a problem. As suggested, keep bisque and glazing on different shelves.
Chilly
My first evening class teacher only did two firings - bisque and glaze together, or rarely, ^6.
