PottaFella
You'll see from this pic the glazing is not perfect! I have some little craters appeared only on the rim, it was quite close to shelf above did the rim get too hot? If I grind them down a bit and fill with more glaze and re-fire is it likely to improve? The glaze was a commercial gloss earthenware (1060–1160), clay a smooth terracotta (1000-1150). I fired to 1100 oC with 15 min soak.
Foxden
Many glazes bubble while they are molten as gasses escape, from the clay and glazes. Usually they settle down once the glaze is fluid. I suspect your bowl was a bit cool due to its location close to the shelf. You might try refiring or firing to a higher temp, that might be easier than grinding away. Babs
A soak sometimes will settle this. TJR advised me to smash grind and glaze over these blemishes and refire with soak. That worked for me.
Babs
Oh and slow down the last stage of your firing. I go to 80d Centigrade/hr from 1000C to cone 03 temp.
