Zach
I'm looking to buy a wheel and have found one, it's a pacifica gt 400 and I've talked them down to 700. I am seeing them new online for 799. They say it has literally been used 3 times. Does anyone have any experience with pacifica products? I've only ever used Brent. Thanks! Mark C.
They are not as tough as brent wheels and cost less. Nothing wrong with them.Laguna Clay is the distributor .That seems only 100$ off new which is No deal really. For me I would pass until a better deal comes along. GEP
I would wait for a better deal too. We had these in the classroom where I used to teach, and my impression is that they are flimsy compared to other wheels. The splashpans cracked, and the pedals would act up a lot. Also, of all the suppliers I've ever worked with, Laguna is the only one I ever had customer service issues with.
alabama
Hey, I have a 400 model...never have had any issues... Does the wheel come with lots of bats?, clay?, tools? Books? Kilns? Otherwise, 700 bucks seems a bit much! Check around including Nevada Dan's, near you! Alabamà

She is also selling a Cress Kiln and asking 1900 for it. its an LT-3K FX23P, retail I'm seeing it for 1500. What would be a good deal on this set? Mark C.
Nevada Dans is a Clay supply place in Sparks Nevada Never been there but heard of it. Last time i bought a wheel and a skutt kiln (the large one) the price was 1,000. Offer 1500 for both -I think the prices she is asking are very high. Stephen
Ya know I agree somewhat with others here as we are potters and potters are cheap and we love a bargain but I would make sure you are looking at the complete picture. I just added a 2nd kiln to our studio and the kiln cost $2100 but once I added the custom rolling stand, vent and shelves my invoice was $3200 delivered so I would make sure you are considering the whole picture. With the light use, if you trust that she's being truthful it might not be as bad of a deal as it sounds at first blush. Me, I would do my research and pull all of those prices together on both items and sit down with her and review it and see if the two of you can work out a win win. Cheap is fun but I've had free things that are just too damn expensive to keep.

This was a listing on SLC's version of craigs list so you really never know what you are getting. She accepted an offer of 2000 that I am still considering. Ive pulled the prices for new items and it comes to 2800ish. I will for sure go check them out before I commit and that is a great point that its not just the cost of the unit but the vents and electrical etc. ps this community is great btw. Thanks to everyone for the wonderful insight
Up in Smoke Pottery
I bought a GT 400 used, in 2006ish. it too was described as very little used, bought for a high school student who abandoned pottery the following year in college. Paid $300-$400, I have to dig in my records. Had no problems other than the splash pan, but nothing a little jb weld didn't fix. I know it has the older foot pedal before they started have troubles with updated version. I'd have no qualms about purchasing another Pacifica from the early 2000's, but not sure on the newer ones, haven't needed to research them yet.(fingers crossed)
Marc McMillan
I have a GT400 and have abused it for years. I had to replace the pedal a couple years ago. Other than that...rock solid.
Rex Johnson
Nice layout, big head and work area, but I'd never buy one again. I bought mine because I was starting and wanted a new wheel, and they were cheap. I've had nothing but troubles with the foot pedal. Returned twice, now it's acting up again. Note to buyer, DO NOT get the foot peddle wet. Design a potter's wheel that can't get wet? Hmmm...not too smart in the engineering dept. Otherwise it's nice, it's quite, I like it. Sell you mine for $400...
