Reputation -2?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at my profile and noticed that my Reputation was -2... not exactly sure what that means other than the obvious anwser. I hope I didnt offend anyone or two. If I did I apologize.

Personally I would never do anything to change someones Reputation (good or bad) but I was just looking and I dont even know how you do it? how does someone do that? was I reported to Admin?

You are such a nice guy! I wish I was as nice as you. My rep is two, too and I've never bothered to find out how I got it or what it means and don't really give a damn (and if I offended someone, they probably deserved it).

I also have no idea how it works or what it means ... You are a minus 2 and marked as neutral, I somehow have an 8 and am still neutral ... Actually it was your post that made me look otherwise I never would have known there was such a thing. I have never seen posts from you that would merit any negative feedback so maybe everyone starts at minus 2 and newbie.

The whole reputation rating seems silly to me. I don't know why we need to rate/criticize each other on these forums. I didn't know there were ratings either, and checked mine and found out it is a 2-Neutral. I have no idea why yours is a negative two. I did a search and found something from a board administrator saying "And Chris is correct in the Reputation/Rating... if you feel a particular person posts good answer you can rate the post or you can go into their personal profile and give them rating using the "Stars". I went into all the posts I could find of yours and didn't see any negative ratings. But just now I posted lots of stars to yours anyway, just to try to pull you up out of the doldrums. I can't see that it helped though.

I didn't even know that this reputation rating existed, it said I was at 0 and neutral and had 174 posts there were other people with no post at 0 and neutral. I thinks it's a waste of time to worry about ratings, I have read everyone of your posts and always found them to be well written and friendly. Don't worry be happy. Denice

Thanks everyone, that really makes me feel better. Just kind of bothered me because I always try to be considerate and nice on ANY forum. Not to say I wont share my opinion or disagree with someone nicely but I see a lot of people who will say or do anything just because they feel they can hide behind their computer. I believe in treating people the same and taking feelings into consideration in person or on the computer.

I agree. I don't think you have been inconsiderate to anyone! In fact, I feel like you've brought some life to the forums with all your posts, and made some of us crawl out of our shells to participate in discussion. It's nice to see a good and informative forum like this active.

If anyone took offense to what you said, or your posts, then it sounds like someone needs to take the briers out of their britches. Geez. ^_^

I don't know what any of the ratings mean? Maybe some one can clue me as to what "neutral" means-is that like "Independent"? Where do those numbers come from? Oh well, guess I'll have to hire a reputation cleaner like they ad on the radio!

Oh dear .... how boring am I? I'm a 0-neutral. Please don't worry about your "reputation" - I've really enjoyed your posts and it's clear by the replies you've had that lots of others feel the same.

Kind regards

Christine

You received a negative rating on a post due to my error, not because I objected to what you had to say. One day I was reading your post and as I was scrolling down on my DROID my finger hovered over the rating. And it clicked. There was no way to change it. If I had known it would cause such distress.... well well there is nothing one can do. But I apologize for the mistake.

Those Droids and computers are going to take over the world...... see what happens to us people when that happens.... pretty soon.... we'll all have negative ratings .... and worse!!!! wink.gif

Seriously..... I will see if the inadvertant negative rating can somehowe be changed. No promises... we are slightly "slave" to the capabilities of the Forum software.

best,

It appears to me that the reputation comes from rating a particular post up or down with the little green plus or red minus signs that are on the lower right side of each post or answer. The help instructions seem to suggest that you can change your rating, so if you find the two posts of yours that have a minus 1 rating, you could negate that by giving a plus 1 rating.

So, wit this information in hand, I found a couple of your posts that I liked (one being your apology if you had offended anyone, the other where you mentioned that the wood the ribs you made may have been around in Revolutionary or Civil War days) and gave them a click on the plus side. So you are back to zero. What you do with it is up to you. Don't make me give you a negative ;-)

Everyone is great and I learned a lot. From now on It just wont bother me what my rating is. It just kind of surprised me and worried me when I seen this bright red -2 and it concerned me I had offended someone.

Now you guys educated me on the subject and made me feel better about the situation but now we have to stop because you guys are giving me a big head and it will be hard to hold up if you dont stop! thanks all. rolleyes.gif

Well, pooh. I posted earlier today, or so I thought, but failed

to push the submit button. I think everything I was going to say

has been addressed for the most part, anyhow.

It is good to know the mystery has been solved by an accidental rating.

I couldn't imagine anyone thumbing you down. Though I've not been on the

forum long, the only posts I've seen from you have been positive and friendly.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I was going to rate everybody up just for the sake of rating everybody up (I think "ratings" are stupid anyway, I don't need to vote for postings I like, I ignore postings I don't care for, and I don't lose any sleep over whether or not I'm marching to the beat of the same drummer as everybody else (you know the one I mean, the one who calls out the cadence with a "baaaaaaa!"). So I don't care how other people have "rated" a posting either.

Anyway. Sorry, I couldn't vote for everybody! Apparently I'm only allowed a handful of votes per day! I guess from now on I will logon on here just to see if I can find posts with negative ratings and vote for those! Who cares about the actual content? LOL!

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE! PUT A SPOKE IN THE RATINGS SYSTEM! BWAH HA HA HA HA HA! *cough cough*

Sorry, my evil laugh seems a bit rusty.
