Ronda
I would like to make a favorite color (Duncan Concepts) into a translucent. Will mixing this semi-opaque with a clear glaze give me the effect as a commercially mixed color? (I.e. pooling in textured areas)
Min
It might and it might not, only way to tell is to try it and see. Another approach to take would be to take the clear glaze and add some stain of the same colour you like to it. You would have to weigh out the glaze and stain and take good notes so you can replicate it if it works. trial and error Welcome to the forums
Chilly
Mixing glazes in nothing like mixing paint. It is a chemical reaction, not a visible colour mix. I did three sample tiles a long time ago, using 15 different glazes. The first tile was straight glazes, the second was each glaze mixed with white, the third was each glaze mixed with clear. With some I got the expected reaction, with others a completely different colour. Fun to experiment with tho'.
Ronda
Thanks, I'll just jump in with both feet and try it. Then cross my fingers and say a prayer like I do every time I start the kiln. Ha-ha!
