Hoping someone here may be able to advise me in the best way to hand build a similar pot to the one pictured. I haven't as yet sourced clay or even know which would be best to use but know that I would like it to have a terracotta like look about it, so would not need it to be glazed. I would guess it would be low fire. I have watched many hand building video tutorials and now feel confident enough to finally give it a try.

Would appreciate as much advice as possible. Thanks kindly

Hey,

If you're going to hand build add 50% course quartz contractors sand, and place the base on a lazy Susan to help on turning.

Also, you might try making a 9" diameter one first to work out any problems that might show up on the 18 inch pot you want to make. Plan on the small pot to take 45 minutes to an hour and the larger one a good 90 minutes.

Practice..and repeat...

Good luck!

See ya,

Alabama
