AND don't carry the error at that temp thro to the final temp as the error may become different towards the top end of your glaze firing. Not expressing myself well, one of the scientific brains will explain this much better.

 

Babs:  How about this explanation:

 

Just because it's 150oC out at a temperature, doesn't mean it will be 150oC out at all temperatures.  

So, it might be 1oC out at 10/15/20/100oC, and 10oC out at 300/400/500oC and 150oC out at 900/1,000/1,200oC.  Meaning there is an exponential increase in the difference.

If it is an analog meter.... that increase in inaccuracy with increasing temperature is a well known normal aspect of the system.
