neilestrick
I would even go so far as to say it's a green bowl, with other colors.
rayaldridge
I like the bowl, but have no idea who A. Orange is. The type of trimming shown makes me think post 50s work, though the glazes remind me of earlier work.

Mark C.
I think it's a dog bowl or since there is no scale to size it it could be a cat bowl. A. Orange was one of the first to pioneer the pet bowl India trade over the Yacamomo mountain range range back before the spice trade picked up.They shipped them out after the grueling two week trek by mules by the boatload. Some vessels rounded the Horn of Africa and a few others rounded Cape Horn with a few lost horns as well. Many bowls where lost at sea when no amount of horns could save them from the reefs. You may have heard that phrase all horns on deck which directly comes from the A. orange bowl fleet that sailed the 6 seas long ago . In fact long before the 7th sea was discovered. My guess and it's just a guess is this bowl was bound for Easter island and was blown offcourse and ended up in a thrift shop near you. Babs
Well Mark for the past year or so, I have had meetings with such a bowl, though I haven't ventured out thro the waves to ssight the signature on the bottom, not having your diving skills. Anyway I enclose a pic. The little birds do seem to love this bowl for splashing on hot days and get quite mad when the dog of the premises goes for a wallow and tips their bowl which then sinks. Now I know it is actually a dog bowl, cats wont like the wet conditions, I will not rage her but thro her food out into it. Mark C.
Babs you should check your bowls bottom for the Callisto a. Orange signature These bowls at auction can fetch a pretty penny Especially if they rounded all the horns in one piece Yours alone must have come from a ship that got blown off course and ended upside down in the world to be in Austriali Next time your dog is using it think about the long two week mule trip avoiding the porcelain bandits and sailing around the horn in a A.Orage fleet cargo double masted sailing ship packed to the decks with Bowls. They may have hit a huge blow off South Africa and ended up on a reef near Perth and kangaroos picked the bowl up and pouched it along with their Joey and it made it across country to your area over thousands of generations of Roos. It's an amazing story so be careful who you tell it to as the newspaper folks will overrun your place once they catch wind of this increafuble journey. The next Disney film could be this story. And you thought of it as just a dog bowl One last question do you have one in blue?
Babs
Dogs come in all colours but not in the CObalts range. The one in my pond has blue touches to it I think, don't venture in there since viewing crocodile Dundee. I've only listed my discovery in this post, but having read your experiences with the baby's talcum powder, I am now fearful of the influx of phone calls etc.
Babs
Oh there are some here called blue Heelers.. just maybe a touch of blue there Mar. Anyways I ventured out last night, being a very moonlit one and got under that bowl. I post the results and leave the rest to your imagination. Just in case you are becoming bored in that awful place you have chosen to run a work shop. I returned it to the pond as the little birds love taking shallow baths in there. Could be a sale of these floating bird baths somewhere. This one rejected years ago for glaze flaw, birds don't seem to mind.
