docweathers
Does anyone have a reliable ^04 metallic gold glaze recipe they would be willing to share?
Marcia Selsor
Doc, If you are talking about a luster gold, they are fired much lower than 04. more like 018 or 020. I have gotten raku metallic gold when spraying ferric chloride on a hot glaze from the kiln going into the reduction chamber. Marcia
docweathers
thanks for setting me straight on this. As the rawest of beginners, my knowledge is very uneven.
neilestrick
There are gold-ish colored glazes out there, typically high in manganese and not food safe. They tend to look more bronze, though, so if you're wanting bright pure metal gold, you have to go with a luster.
