I am an amateur artist and have a viteous china sink I would like to paint a scene on and install in my home. Can I paint with an overglaze and fire it in a kiln? Denice Posted April 7, 2016 Report Share Posted April 7, 2016 It would be helpful if you could find out from the manufacture what cone the glaze on the sink is. I played around with some china dishes painting patterns on them. They looked alright so I set them on a shelf and forgot about them about a year later I heard this ping, ping on an on. So I started chasing down the sound and found the overglaze flying off the plates. It wasn't obvious when they were first fired that the glaze temperatures were incompatable but it was. He will probably be one of the best sources of information within this group. He's the author of "China Paint and Overglaze" and has done testing on many commercial preformed products.
