Pugaboo
I was wondering how often should I be changing the filters in my mask? T
MatthewV
If you store it in a plastic box when not in use, maybe every 100 hours of use or just yearly. Also check to see if there are manufacture guidelines. I would expect them to be conservative and would personally double them. Hopefully you are not working in a constant dust cloud! Because this post is honest, please do not take this as legal advice and use it with your own risk.
Joseph Fireborn
I change mine once a year. It was surprisingly not very dirty at all. I probably could have used it for a while longer. They are like 6 dollars for the refills though so I didn't really think it was a huge issue to be sure I was breathing good air.
Pugaboo
Thanks everybody one, sounds like once a year is what I should aim for. T
Guest JBaymore
Assuming that you don't somehow physically "puncture" one, they do not start to "leak" ingredients thru to your breathing zone. What happens is that they clog up the miniscule pores (that act as the filter). So breathing slowly and steadily gets more and more difficult. They are pretty cheap, so changing them regularly really is not a big deal. best, ............................john
timbo_heff
Manufacturer of North Respirators recommends changing after 8 hours of use !
neilestrick
Most respirators have an 8 hour use lifespan. However, we are rarely using them in really dusty environments. Even when mixing glazes the amount being pulled into the filter is very small, so keeping track of the hours is difficult. If you use it every few days, then I would replace it monthly. If you only use it once a month, replace it yearly.
Pugaboo
I try and do most things in the wet or damp stage so only need to use it to 5 minutes at a time once or twice a week and maybe for an hour once a month. T
ChenowethArts
Hmmm, great question. I seem to be spraying more and more. I'm thinking once a month for a filter change might be appropriate. I've been doing it once a quarter or at the beginning of each semester. Paul
