I am going to do some testing, but there is such a plethora of recipes out there for low-fire and mid-range but not much that I can see for cone 2. neilestrick Posted January 30, 2016 Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 There's no such thing as a clear satin. Any satin will be somewhat milky. A simple cone 04 clear is 90% Frit 3124 + 10% EPK. Dick White Posted January 30, 2016 Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 I have a mid-fire clear recipe that my community studio uses at cone 6: Gerstley borate - 50 Silica - 32 EPK - 18 I have also used a commonly found low-fire clear recipe at cone 06: Gerstley borate - 50 Silica - 32 EPK - 18 Do you see anything unusual about those two recipes when you compare them side by side? You are asking for something about halfway between low-fire and mid-fire. Normally, you would not just mix equal parts of a low-fire and mid-fire recipe and expect it to work at cone 2, but these two recipes could be averaged, and you would have: Gerstley borate - 50 Silica - 32 EPK - 18 (but I repeat myself... ) dw Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
