Electric Kiln Passive Vent

I've bought a small hobby electric kiln (Rohde) which has a side vent "chimney". If I attach an alumimium exhaust hose to this for a passive vent how hot are the gasses coming out by the time they get to the other end approx 3 feet away? Is it ok to use a standard plastic through-wall vent/cowl or does it need a metal fitting?  One option is boiler flue components but they're quite expensive and I'm finding it hard to source the right bits (I'm in the UK).

Downdraft vents don't need any special ducting because the small amount of air that is pulled from the kiln is mixed with lots of cool room air, so the temperature of the air in the duct is less than 150F and can be vented through the wall with normal single wall metal duct. In the case of your vent, without a fan mixing that vented air, I would expect that the duct would run quite hot, in which case you would probably need a double walled duct through the wall. I would call the kiln manufacturer and get their opinion, though. That's not a normal setup here.

Sounds like yours is similar to mine. A tube out the side with a big metal circle fitted above? Never tried attaching a vent to mine as it sits under a big room vent.

Yes, that sounds like the same thing. Interesting that you just let the fumes rise up to the extractor.  I have an extractor about 3ft directly above where the kiln will go so maybe that'll be all I need.  I phoned Rohde and asked for some info which they promised to email but nothing has come through yet. I guess all will be revealed when the thing is delivered.
