S. Dean
My studio is busting at the seams and I need to create some more working area. I would like to move my glaze chemicals (feldspar, neph sy, EPK, soda ash, oxides, stains, etc.) outside to free up space. I can store them under a 10' overhang, so they would be fully covered from the elements and out of direct sunlight. However, it is not fully enclosed. It is pretty humid here in central North Carolina, so I have some concerns about the best way to store them. Anybody have recommendations on the best way to go about this? Thanks, -SD
Mark C.
You have to keep them dry-put in plastic tubs with snap on lids under an outside roof.I would keep the colorants and stains inside as they cost more-if they get wet. Marcia Selsor
I have much of my clay outside on pallets. I wrapped the pile in plastic then covered with a tarp. I don't have soda ash out there. It is mostly feldspars, and clays. I am in very humid and hot South Texas. I agree with Mark about storing some things in the large plastic containers. ..especially plaster. I boarded up the sides of the pallet to avoid opossum nests. Marcia Selsor
These pallets are under a porch roof. I do have Gerstley borate, wollastonite, and a lot of clay, kaolin, spars etc. Soda ash borax, plaster are inside. Marcia
