Joseph Fireborn
I am trying to put together a list of oxides that fume and discolor pots around it in the kiln. I know copper carbonate does, I had some pots fume pink the other day. I tried finding a list on the internet or on digital fire but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone else know of any other oxides that fume and discolor pots around it? If so can you please list them here, or if you know of a list even better! ----- Copper Carbonate : Pink Chrome - Tinge & Pink Cobalt - on kiln shelves, maybe on pots. Marcia Selsor
Chrome can jump and color or tinge some glazes. Sometimes pink as well. Marcia

neilestrick
Cobalt can fume. You'll see it on the kiln wash. Not sure it will get taken in by neighboring pots very well, though.

High Bridge Pottery
Zinc does it in reduction. Probably won't do anything to pots around it though. Dunno if you could class it as fuming or volatilizing. think they are similar if not the same. It at least turns to zinc metal and boils.
