fruch
I am getting ready to move into my pinch pot combo lesson with my high school students and thought it would be fun to make Chia pets. I know some other high schools make these but they use stoneware or terra cotta. I have ^05 earthenware. Does any one know if this would work alright to make chia pets out of. Obviously the construction would be fine its the plant part I am wondering about. The ceramic form gets submerged into water over night, I guess to retain the water for the seeds? Then the seeds get smeared onto/into the grooves that were carved during the building process. A hole is at the top of the form so water can be poured in. Any thoughts or suggestions. I don't have the time or money to buy red earthenware or terra cotta so if earthenware doesn't work I will wait until next semester. Rae Reich
I think white earthenware will be fine, its qualities are about the same as the red. You could even use colored slips for fun. Rae
neilestrick
Yep. Any porous clay body will work.
