Am I The Only One Who Has Spent Hours Trying To Log/ Sign In?

Thanks to my daughter for magically unlocking the door and letting me back into this forum. I lost my password and was issued another, but still couldn't get in. She copied and pasted the new password into the appropriate place, and presto. The first box says "email", which is already filled in with my email address, so does my "sign in" name go there? Gee I'm not sure. And what is my "sign in " name, anyway? Is it my user name? My email address? And if you need "help" there is a list of people you can find at the bottom of the "board page", whatever that is. And if you find the list, and you're locked out, how do you actually contact one of the moderators or administrators? I had an easier time passing the extra class amateur radio exam than I did logging into this forum. I wonder if others have just given up.   I'm sure this not the right place to post this, but my computer is equipment. And there doesn't appear to be another place to do so. The "faq and help topics" section won't allow anyone to start a new topic, so that's another dead end. End of rant.

John,

Just in case you actually wanted answers rather than just venting :)

Your email address is your sign in.  Your user name hershey8 is used for display purposes only and can actually be changed without changing your sign in which is always tied to your email address.

One thing it did take me a while to realize is that the user for ceramicartsdaily.com (to get things like the freebie) CAN be different that the user for the forum hosted on ceramicartsdaily.com.  To save myself confusion I made them the same.

FAQ/Help Topics is moderator/admin only.

I cannot answer the "contact the moderators or administrators" question.

Thanks Judy. I really didn't know that email was same as sign in. Couldn't figure out why that box was already filled in. Do you enter your sign in name on top of the one that is already there, or do you erase the existing info and then enter the name? I really do find the whole thing awkward as heck. Surely others have trouble with this. I appreciate your response. john

Nope just leave it as it's already filled in ... your computer is saving the signin for the forum for you ... it's called a cookie in computerese.  Type your password and you should be good to go.

Thanks again, Judy. I see I can check the "remember me" box. I'll see if that helps.  ja

I finally clicked the remember me box.  I am always confused by all the "computer language?" and a few times have just given up, but I enjoy the forum and have learned a lot as well so I hated to give it up.  Glad to hear that I'm not the only one!

enjoy, Ginny

Sorry the terminology is confusing.  Some aspects of this forum package software can be difficult to address... however changing to a different software package would / will be a massive task due to all the existing content having to be migrated to any new package.  It is not a simple task.

best,

It's a great forum, and I enjoy it.  I just need to gain more computer savvy, I guess. You add a lot to it, John. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. 73. ja

On the topic of the forum itself, Clayart has announced the opening of their forum with the bold statement: "this forum will jump us into first place in the world of

clay education and communication."

CAD and the CAD forum have been doing a first rate job at clay education and communication for a long time and I have always especially appreciated the lack of snarky, snide, argumentative, etc. interactions in the forum.  I'm taking a wait and see attitude on Clayart.
